Bottom line

Donarius is desktop donor and church management software sold as a one-time purchase, with the base version and modules bought separately. Its clearest strength is the low upfront cost combined with installation on unlimited computers and no monthly fees. Buyers should budget for the modules they need, since photo directories, letters and email, and pledge tracking are paid add-ons, and online giving requires either its own payment integration or an existing provider. It suits small churches and nonprofits that want to own their giving records outright.

What is DONATION?

Donarius is donation and church management software from Nuverb Systems Inc., a Toronto company that released the program in 1998. It helps churches and nonprofits record who gives, how much, and when, replacing spreadsheets and handwritten giving records for offering envelopes, pledges, and year-end statements. In 2020 the company also adapted it for businesses, adding customer, sales, and accounts receivable tracking with invoice printing and emailing.

Staff enter each week's offerings by typing them or by reading checks with a USB check reader, which finds the donor so only the amount needs typing. Pre-authorized ACH deposits are recorded automatically, and bank deposits and donations can be transferred to Manager or QuickBooks. Reports group contributions and pledges by day, week, month, quarter, or year, and show totals for one member or all members. Receipts can be printed or emailed as PDF files, and offering envelopes can be printed in-house with each donor's number and the date of each week.

Churches, ministries, schools, foundations, and small nonprofits use the software, and the company reports more than 2,500 churches and ministries as customers. Pricing is a one-time payment rather than a subscription. The base version costs $63.97 US, and optional modules for pledges, online giving, letters and email, photo directories, and relationship tracking cost $16.50 US each. Organizations with up to 100 active donors per year receive 25% off, and a 30-day trial is available.

Many church management tools are web-based and charge monthly fees. Donarius instead installs on your own Windows or Mac computers and can be installed on as many machines as you want at no extra charge. Online donations can be collected through its NuverbPay integration or imported from providers including PayPal, Vanco, Givelify, Tithe.ly, Stripe, Square, and DonorBox. The company also offers to modify the software for your organization at no extra charge.
