Bottom line

PlanSwift is Windows takeoff software that measures plans and prices assemblies in one desktop application. Its clearest strength is that estimators can move from measurement to a finished bid without rebuilding their work in a second product. The main cost to watch is that Auto Takeoff, the AI tool that builds a first-pass takeoff, is only included in the higher-priced Core plan. It suits trade contractors and estimators who bid frequently and want AI-assisted quantity work inside their existing workflow.

Choose PlanSwift iftrade contractors who bid frequently, or estimators at small and mid-size firms.

What is PlanSwift?

PlanSwift is takeoff and estimating software for general contractors and specialty trades. It measures quantities from digital plans and turns them into priced bids, replacing hand measuring and the separate spreadsheets that usually follow it. The company was founded in 2007 and is now part of ConstructConnect.

In daily use, an estimator imports plans in PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG, TIFF, or PLN format and measures areas, lengths, counts, slopes, and volumes by pointing and clicking. A cutout tool subtracts doors, windows, and other openings automatically, and grid and joist tools help with framing layouts. Material and labor assemblies are applied as the measurements are taken, so the estimate builds as the takeoff progresses. Finished bids can be exported to PDF, Excel, CSV, XML, or HTML. Takeoff BOOST, the AI suite built into the software, adds Auto Count, Auto Scale, and Auto Bookmark, and Auto Takeoff, which creates a first-pass takeoff for areas, lengths, and counts.

The product is built for freelancers, small businesses, mid-size firms, and enterprise estimating teams across trades including drywall, concrete, framing, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and masonry. Pricing is annual. Essential costs $2,000 per year for one seat and Core costs $3,000 per year. Each additional seat is discounted, to $1,500 per seat on Essential and $2,500 per seat on Core. Every plan begins with a 14-day free trial that requires no credit card.

What sets PlanSwift apart is that takeoff and pricing happen in the same tool. Many takeoff products stop at measurement, which leaves estimators moving quantities into another application to price them. A live Excel link updates connected cells as takeoff values change, and the software integrates with Sigma, ConstructBuy, Red Rhino, Electrical Bid Manager, A-Systems JobView, Pantera Tools, and Smart Contractor.
