Timetastic review
Bottom line
Timetastic is a focused leave and holiday planner that replaces spreadsheets and paper forms with a shared calendar, allowance tracking and one-click approvals. Its clearest strength is simplicity: staff book leave on desktop or mobile and managers approve it in seconds. The main cost to watch is that rota and time clock features are only available on the $5.50 Workforce Management plan, and there is no free plan beyond the 30-day trial. Teams that mainly need leave tracking for a small to mid-sized workforce will get the most value from the Business or Pro plans.
What is Timetastic?
Timetastic is an online staff leave and holiday planner for companies that still track annual leave, sickness and other absence in spreadsheets, paper forms or email. Each employee gets a personal calendar and allowance summary, and managers get a shared view of who is off and when. A separate Rota & Time Clock product adds shift planning and time clocking for teams that work set hours.
Day to day, staff click the dates they want off on the calendar or in the mobile app, and the request goes straight to their manager. Managers approve or decline from an email or the app, and employees receive an instant email notification once a request is approved. The shared wallchart shows team availability, pending requests and leave type icons. Departments can be given minimum staffing levels, so clashes appear before a request is approved. Public holidays are supported across more than 3,000 regions, and leave can be synced into Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar.
Timetastic is used by small businesses, mid-sized businesses and enterprises, and the company says more than 275,000 people book their time off through it. Pricing is per user per month: Business at $1.50, Pro at $2.50 and Workforce Management at $5.50. Every plan includes a 30-day free trial with no credit card required, billing is month to month with no minimum term, and charities and certain other organisations receive a 50% discount.
What sets Timetastic apart is its focus on the absence workflow rather than a broad HR suite. It handles leave types, allowances, approvals and team calendars in one place, and it connects approvals to Slack and Microsoft Teams. Its Workforce Management tier extends into rota building, clock-in and clock-out, and payroll-ready timesheets. The company holds Cyber Essentials accreditation, states ISO/IEC 27001:2022 compliance, and hosts customer data in Microsoft Azure's UK South and UK West regions.
