Elementor review
Bottom line
Elementor is the most widely used visual builder for WordPress, and with Pro it is a complete site builder: theme templates, forms, popups, dynamic content and WooCommerce widgets without code. Per-site pricing from $5 a month is fair for freelancers and agencies. The known trade-offs are page weight if you lean on heavy widgets, a credit-metered One bundle that takes some reading to price, and the fact that performance, updates and security are your host's job, not Elementor's.
What is Elementor?
Elementor is the most widely used visual builder for WordPress. The free plugin covers the drag-and-drop editor and basic widgets; Pro adds the Theme Builder for headers, footers and archive templates, a form builder, popups, WooCommerce widgets, dynamic content and custom CSS. Plans are billed annually by the number of sites, from $60 a year for one site on Essential up to 25 sites on Expert, and the newer One bundles add AI generation, image optimization, accessibility and email deliverability on a credit system. Because it runs on your own WordPress host, you keep full ownership and can switch hosts freely, at the cost of handling updates and performance yourself.
Who it's for
- Freelancers and agencies building client sites on WordPress
- Small businesses that want to edit their own site without a developer
- WooCommerce stores that want custom product and checkout layouts
Who should look elsewhere
- Teams that want hosting, builder and support from one vendor (consider Wix, Squarespace or Hostinger's builder)
- Performance purists building with block themes and minimal plugins
- Sites that will rely on many third-party Elementor add-ons; plugin conflicts are common
Typical uses
- Business websites and landing pages built visually
- Custom headers, footers and archive templates with Theme Builder
- Lead forms and popups connected to email tools
- WooCommerce product, cart and checkout customisation
Key features, tested
Visual editor
Live drag-and-drop editing with flexbox and grid containers, global styles, responsive breakpoints and a large template and block library. Editor V4 reduced DOM output and improved speed noticeably.
Theme Builder and dynamic content
Design headers, footers, single and archive templates and apply them by conditions, with dynamic tags pulling from posts, custom fields (ACF) and WooCommerce. This is what turns Elementor from a page builder into a site builder.
Forms, popups and marketing widgets
Form Builder with multi-step forms and integrations to Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot and others; Popup Builder with triggers and conditions; marketing widgets for pricing tables, countdowns and testimonials on Pro.
WooCommerce
Product, cart, checkout and my-account widgets let you redesign the store without touching templates; Advanced plans and above include these eCommerce features.
Elementor One
The newer bundle adds agentic AI (code, copy, images, layouts), image optimisation, accessibility scans and fixes, cookie consent, email deliverability and a site management dashboard, all metered by a monthly credit pool.

Elementor FAQ
Is Elementor free?
The core Elementor plugin is free and includes the visual editor and basic widgets. Elementor Pro, which adds Theme Builder, forms, popups and WooCommerce widgets, starts at $5 a month billed annually for one site.
Does Elementor slow down WordPress sites?
It can if you stack many widgets and add-ons, but Editor V4's leaner output, good hosting and image optimisation keep well-built Elementor sites fast. Keep third-party add-ons to a minimum.
What is the difference between Elementor Pro and Elementor One?
Pro is the editor and design features. One includes everything in Pro plus AI generation, image optimisation, accessibility, cookie consent, email deliverability and site management, paid for with a monthly credit pool.
Does Elementor work with any WordPress theme?
Yes. It works with most themes, and the free Hello theme is a blank canvas designed for it. Theme Builder can replace the theme's header, footer and templates entirely.
How much does Elementor cost?
Elementor has a free plan and paid plans start at $5/mo. Plans: Elementor (free plugin) (Free), Essential ($5, /mo, billed $60/yr (1 site)), Advanced Solo ($7, /mo, billed $84/yr (1 site)), Advanced ($9, /mo, billed $108/yr (3 sites)), One ($15, /mo, billed $180/yr (1 site)). 30-day money-back available.
