Expensify review
Bottom line
Expensify is a web and mobile spend management platform that covers receipt capture, expense reports, reimbursements, travel booking, and a corporate card. Its clearest strength is how little manual work it asks of employees, since receipts can be photographed, emailed, or texted and then categorized by Concierge AI. The main cost to watch is that there is no free plan, and the Expensify Card is limited to registered businesses in the US, UK, and select EU countries. Teams that want one tool for expenses, travel, and reimbursements connected to QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Xero should consider it.
What is Expensify?
Expensify is spend management software for receipts, expense reports, reimbursements, and company cards. It addresses the time employees and finance teams spend collecting receipts, writing reports, and matching card charges to accounting records. The product is built to move each expense from capture to reimbursement with less manual entry.
Employees scan receipts in the mobile app, drag and drop files, forward emails to receipts@expensify.com, or text a photo to 47777. Concierge AI categorizes and submits expenses, and managers can review every report or ask the AI to flag only outliers. Admins set category limits and other expense rules. Approved reports sync two ways with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Xero, and other accounting systems, and employees can be reimbursed directly to their bank accounts in as little as one business day.
Expensify serves employees, managers, and finance teams, and the company lists freelancers, small businesses, mid-size businesses, and enterprises among its typical customers. A customer example on the site is the Brooklyn Nets, which scaled from 10 to 230 employees and reduced corporate card reconciliation time by 90%. The subscription starts at $5 per user per month, and a 30-day free trial is available. There is no free plan, but businesses that place at least half of their spend on the Expensify Card can receive 50% off the subscription.
What sets Expensify apart is the range of tools in one app. Travel booking for flights, hotels, cars, and rail syncs with expenses, and the product also covers bill pay and invoicing. Bring your own cards lets companies keep existing corporate cards for automatic reconciliation across more than 10,000 banks. Global reimbursements pay employees or contractors in their local currency, and virtual cards are unlimited and free with the Expensify Card.
