Zoom Workplace review
Bottom line
Zoom Workplace is a meeting-centered collaboration suite that adds chat, phone, scheduling, and AI note-taking to the same platform. Its clearest strength is My Notes, which captures meetings across Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and in-person conversations and turns them into summaries and automated follow-ups. The main cost to watch is that advanced AI features such as ZoomMate require eligible paid plans, and per-user pricing grows with seat count. Teams that want video, calling, and AI notes under one vendor should consider it, while buyers who need only a single standalone note taker may find a narrower tool cheaper.
What is Zoom Workplace?
Zoom Workplace is the collaboration suite from Zoom Communications, built around video meetings and extended into chat, phone, mail and calendar, scheduling, whiteboarding, and short-form video clips. It addresses a common problem for teams: running calls, messages, documents, and scheduling in separate tools, then losing track of decisions and follow-ups between them. Zoom introduced the Zoom Workplace name in 2024 and positions the product as an AI-first work platform.
Day to day, users start or schedule meetings, join from the desktop, web, or mobile apps, and use breakout rooms, polls, quizzes, and screen sharing during calls. The My Notes feature captures notes and transcription in Zoom meetings, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet calls, and in-person conversations, then produces summaries with key takeaways and action items. Built-in Workflows can send recap emails, create tasks, or share updates after a meeting, and notes sync between mobile and desktop. Calendar sync, Calendly and Outlook connections, and integrations with tools such as Asana, Jira, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, and Zapier keep scheduling and follow-up work inside the same stack.
The platform serves freelancers, small businesses, mid-size businesses, and enterprises. Related products extend it into specific jobs: Revenue Accelerator for sales teams, Webinars and Events for marketing, Contact Center and Virtual Agent for customer support, and Workvivo for employee engagement. A free plan is available. Zoom Workplace paid plans start at $14.16 per user per month, and a standalone My Notes plan starts at $8.33 per user per month. ZoomMate, the generative assistant that creates decks and documents, is included only with eligible paid plans.
What sets Zoom Workplace apart from many meeting tools is that it bundles calling, chat, scheduling, notes, and content creation under one login. Standalone AI note takers such as Otter, Fathom, and Granola typically sit alongside a meeting tool rather than inside it. Zoom's notes are native to Zoom Workplace, and AI queries based on Zoom and web context are included at no additional cost with an eligible paid plan. Teams that already run Zoom Phone, Chat, and Meetings gain one place to search and act on conversations.
